So, yes, given not so common sense, investigation and commitment, you too can have fabulous small reef systems. IMO, more people are likely to have more success starting off with larger systems, but I am very glad to count Tom Walsh as a mini-minireef success story and friend.

Even with the smaller species you are still going to need a rather large aquarium. The tropical gar also is possible to keep in aquariums as it doesnt grow as large; however this species is very hard to find. The Cuban gar is a red-list endangered species and shouldnt be kept even if you somehow find one.

In aquariums gars are quite demanding and require a lot of space and clean water. I recommend you to use as big a tank as you can for your gar, and I wouldnt recommend keeping gars in an aquarium smaller than 200 Gallon/720 L. And that should be considered a minimum; a 400 gallon/1400 L tank is preferable.

Need help with DIY Moonlights
I'm looking for ideas to put moonlights in my 30 gallon Eclipse system hood. Where you guys get your Moonlights from, I check Canadian Tire & HD, they don't have it and BA and e-bay costing a lot. Any ideas how to make them or places to get them from. Thanks!.
