Hey
They are very interesting pictures that you have there. I am big fan of discuss fish, unfortunately there are no dealers who live near me and ihave to travel many miles to shop for discuss.
My favour.

Are airstones bad for reef tanks?
I have noticed that nobody uses airstones in their reef tanks like people with freshwater tanks do to decorate. Are they bad for reefs?.

At "5" ammonia concentration has "peaked" and generally declines rapidly. Point "6" shows the same for nitrite. Both ammonia and nitrites are toxic at low levels to most fishes and invertebrates. At the time of "7", generally four to eight weeks into the set-up, both have fallen to acceptably low concentrations to allow further stocking.

Nitrates in our example continue to rise and might build to dangerous levels

You will find, however, that many obligations to water quality are much more strict with a heavy bio-load. Testing for less common parameters like oxygen saturation and phosphate levels may be easily overlooked (and certainly more easily corrected) in a smaller system, but a large aquarium requires due diligence, patience and planning to control these and other parameters. They are subject to the virtues and limitations of their very size. Both good and bad things are likely to happen slower in a large volume of water. We gain greater stability with increasing tank size. Thus, climbing nitrate levels are easily observed in advanc

This is our choice for many of our reef and all of our live-plant aquaria, especially when a chiller cannot be used. If a chiller can be used, however, we recommend metal halide lighting in combination with 7100K Power Compacts to help improve the color rendering. PowerCompact lamps should be changed every 12 to 18 months, depending on how many hours th

Control nozzles will afford the final tuning needed in this regard. Most folks build their manifold the size of the inside perimeter of the display tank. For aquariums with a commercial plastic trim, small holes can be drilled in the recessed lip for plastic ties (cable/zip) to be fished through for securing the suspended manifold. Bare glass aquariums (no trim) can have fasteners (plastic hooks, cable ties, etc) embedded into a dab of silicone near the edge and put to use once the caulk is cured. Acrylic aquariums are very accommodating and can easily be drilled or glue

There is usually a control valve for regulating water flow. A check valve is usually placed on the filter intake to prevent the sand from packing-down when the filter is turned off.

Because water flows upward through the filter, the sand in the filter becomes suspended or "fluidized" in the water column, forming a fluidized bed of sand. If the flow of water is controlled properly, the sand does not flow out of the filter, but remains suspended. This happens because the flow of water is just fast enough to keep the sand in suspension. The weight of the sand prevents it from escaping the filter. Because the sand is suspended in wat

Fish Out of Water
Although Boni Comandante Jr.’s technique is intended to ship fish used for food, the idea of putting fish to 'sleep' and then transporting them without water is an interesting one.....

The Mad Reefer, Bloomington, Illinois
Does anyone know how to contact the owners of the Mad Reefer? I realized that it closed, but they have (had?) a fish tank of mine on consignment. I am looking to either reclaim the fish tank or see if it sold. Even if you just have the previous owners' names, that would be great. Thanks!.

Breeding African Cichlids
HOW TO CARE FOR AFRICAN CICHLIDS BREEDING Once you have established your aquarium of African Cichlids, and decided which species you prefer best, you’ll observe after several months that your acclimated Cichlids are happy, healthy and well adjusted within their new community. SE vs DE
I did a search but my searching skills suck I guess. I'm trying to figure out if DE is worth the cost over SE for a dual setup over a 75 or a 90 gallon tank, haven't decided yet, but I obviously want the most light for the least money :) DE bulbs are more expensive (seems to be), and the pendants are definitly more costly than a simple reflector and I already have a socket and ref.
