The water at the bottom of the filter is fresh and high in dissolved oxygen, so aerobic bacteria cultivate in the bottom half of the sand bed, and remove ammonia and nitrite, using up oxygen in the process. If you count on the LFS (Local Fish Store) or your buddy down the road to keep you out of trouble and dont do your homework.. You will fail. That is the one guarantee in this hobby. DO YOUR HOMEWORK.

hello everyone, i am new to this site and it looks really good! anywho, my cycle finished about a week ago, and i just added a fiji blue devil to my tank today. he seems very happy and healthy, getting used to his/her new home. and boy is he fun to watch! there is one hole in the rock tha.
