Aquarium Fish Temperature

For displays with other heat issues (like enclosed and poorly vented lighting systems), powerheads used for primary water circulation contribute more than a few degrees to the water temperature, which can be a serious problem. Of lesser concern but still worthy of mention is the risk that their unguarded intakes

Powerhead Maintenance

Regardless of brand, all powerheads are going to require some routine maintenance to keep them functioning properly. Intake screens should be cleaned at least once per month. Every three to six months I give my pumps a series of chemical bathes to clean them thoroughly. First, unplug the pump, remove it from the tank, and place it in a clean bucket that is only used for the aquarium. No mop buckets! Ok I was noticing that a lot of the higher end tanks on this site have timed lighting including dawn and dusk and I think that is so cool and I am sure that it is great for the tank. I on the other hand don't have that luxury and turn on my tank whenever I get up turn it off when I go to bed. I there a problem w.
