Daphnia For The Aquarium

Daphnia are a great food source for both young and adult aquarium fish, you could catch them with a net in a pond, but their's a risk of bringing in parasites. I just found an article about growing daphnia yourself, nice read for the real tinkers out there :-)

Be kind to your fish . . . dont overcrowd your tank!

Fish get their oxygen from the water they live in. There is only so much oxygen dissolved in water, and oxygen can only enter the aquarium at the waters surface. It is better to be conservative when stocking your aquarium. Your fish will live longer, healthier lives, and you will save money.

A - Fish that should never be kept in captivity, period.

B - Fish that may be kept successfully, but ONLY in public aquaria that can supply their specialized needs.

Some popular fishes express neurotic behaviors like "pacing" in slow flow environments: swimming back and forth against the glass relentlessly as if pursuing their own reflection. Some tangs, for example, will cease this behavior with increased water flow. Sessile reef invertebrates depend on accurately applied water flow to bring food to them and to carry waste away. Their very lives will be threatened furthermore in poor flow environments over time and in ways that some aquarists can easily overlook, like encroachment by alg

Of lesser concern but still worthy of mention is the risk that their unguarded intakes

Refugium reverse photo period, could it actually fuel daytime algae?
I was just reading some articles about PH and whatnot (Randy Holmes Farley stuff) and started to think about CO2. If algae gives off Co2 at night time when it isn't photosynthesizing, then the chaeto ball in my fuge is doing just that during the day when the fuge light is off and the display light is on .. thus, helping to fuel alg.
